Just finished implementing rss feeds for the rest of the cms sections of this site. Now you can get two new rss feeds for the projects and the reviews. Here are the links.

http://www.hnetinc.com/projects.php?action=rss

http://www.hnetinc.com/reviews.php?action=rss

The tutorials section will be back soon as well as a paging (pagination) system for the longer pages like the news page.

Had lots of fun at the company xmas party. Poker, wii, karaoke, good BBQ, and good friends. Pictures from the party will be posted in a new gallery tomorrow.

I am also going to try and get the site map and the rest of the news page stuff (server uptime and quotes) up tomorrow.

Well after a long wait the new site is up. It is faster and easyer to maintain for me which I am hoping will make me update more often. Some of the things I have left yet to do are:

  • contact form
  • import all my old tutorials into this new system
  • update old news posts that contain images so they point to the correct image location

Other than that its all up and running. You get the rss feed for the news by going to http://www.hnetinc.com/news.php?action=rss

The new gallery has been completed. I am going to make a few tweaks to it but it is not going to be used on the current site. It will be on the new site which is going to have a lot of new improvements. A couple examples of the improvements are the new gallery and a dynamic menu.

Long time no update but rest assured that there are updates coming to the site. I find it a little hard to want to code once I am done coding at my job but once its all done the site will shine and be so much easier to update. There is even a sister site or system coming that I think some people may find very interesting. Worst comes to worst I will use it myself.

I have neglected to update this. I did get my motorcycle up and running and it ended up costing me about $60 to get it going.

I have also decided to say the heck with cakephp and write my own system for the site. There is more I can learn by writing the system myself rather than relying on code other than my own.

Even this news system is going to be replaced. I will be sad to see it go because it has done a great job but this new system should last a good long while. It will also mean one control panel to update any section of the site which is nice.

I saw this the other night and it is a really good movie. I was a little reluctant about it at first but it has a really good story to it.

I have a new project going on that is almost done. It involves some steampunk ;)

It has been a while. I got stalled on the rewrites of the website as I am having issues trying to figure out how to use cakephp's ACL system to secure the new pages.

The new CMS system will replace the existing reviews, projects, and news system. It has a way to go but if any one out there is willing to help me with cakes ACL you can find me at hcker2000@gmail.com

a very good weekend

This weekend was a really good one. I went with my wife and her family out to the gun range. Of course I got to try out my new Hi-Point 9mm carbine. It performed way better than expected. with the iron sites I could easily hit a two foot circle at 100 yards. No jams, no stove pipes, no problems what so ever.

The 9mm round does have a good bit of kick though when it has enough barrel to get up to speed. The kick is a bit rough on the sholder as the butt of the gun is plastic but still a very good gun.

Sunday I went to a lan party hosted by my friends/boss's. Played some supream commander and dominated them. We also played some guitar hero which is really fun but I suck at it for now.

On web site news I am getting close to getting the new system up and running. I will regret saying that I want to have it done by next week but I really do. It will make things so much simpler.

Camaro fixed

I took some time today to get my wipers fixed on the camaro. Turns out the motor did go bad and let me tell you they are expensive compared to other parts for the car.

I am also working on a new review and project system which will let me add reviews(of any type) and projects more quickly and with less hasle. Should help increase the amount of posts I make to both.

I will also be picking up a new gun this friday. It is the hi point 9mm carbine. I know a lot of people hate high point but all the reviews of there carbine were very good. The one down side is they only use a single stack mag which means I only get a 10 round mag. Compared to the CX4 storms 15 round capacity. Though this gun is 1/6th the price of the CX4 so I will deal with 10 rounds.

It was very informative. Now we just have to wait to get our spotter Id's from the nws.

Job update and some ranting

I have been working my new job for a week now and it is the job I have always wanted. The company is great and every one is so friendly.

On an unrelated note I am going to stop going in radio shack. I have said it before and I will say it again. They are over priced and don't have any thing special in there.

I went in there tonight to buy an s-video to rca adaptor and they want $21 for one which is absolutely insane. I just left and came home and ordered one off of newegg because I also needed a new bluetooth adaptor from there. The adaptor was a little over $7. I am sure will more looking I could have found it for much less.

Oh I almost forgot I have added a site map to the root directory of the site and submited it to google's webmaster tools. I have also went threw and added better page titles all around the site. Both changes should bring more traffic to the site.

I posted a new mod project tonight. I needed to modify my aquarium lighting to get some more light out put so I can grow plants.

All the pictures were taken with my canon 20D. Hop on over to the project page and check it out.

The time has come for me to move on to a new and better job. After three and a half years with my current employer I have been offered a better job from another company.

This job will be doing php coding. I will be working with computers which is some thing I have always done, but will now be doing it in a new job.

My 20D arrived a little while back and is in much better shape than the 10D that I returned. I will be posting some pictures I have taken with it shortly.

My grandma was kind enough to get me a very nice riding jacket to wear when I go out on my motorcycle. I still have to get the carburetors on the motorcycle cleaned but I have a method I am going to try before I tear them off the motor.

Well I got the crappy 10D from adorama returned. That took for ever but my 20D from KEH is on its way and I am guessing will be here some time before friday.

Also on another non-camera related not what in the world is happening to peoples freedom of expression? You know those things that are clearly defined in the constitution of what used to be the great USA.

People used to stand up and speak out when they felt some thing was wrong. Now it seems like every day you hear of a protester or just a regular person being killed for taking a stand against the corruption of the US goverment.
