Well the trip up here was not as long as I thought it was going to be. It took 7 hours. About 8pm Friday some feirce storms rolled threw. Tornado warnings and all that good stuff. The weird thing about that was I did not see any lightning

The wedding is today so this should be interesting.

I found this originally on this site
http://sodoityourself.com/use-gtalk-in-a-window/#more-145

Seems to be a good option if you mostly just use Gtalk for talking to people. If you need multi client support I recomend www.miranda-im.org

My wifes dad gave me a 3.5hp briggs and stratton engine and it works really well. Might need new pair of piston rings but thats no big deal. The idea is to take it and make a small generator out of it for as cheap as I can. Shouldn't be to hard so long as I can find a cheep alternator from a car. I will also need a power inverter but those are easy to come by. Should be a fun little project.

Hax0rd laptop

Well the laptops power connector that I glued and resoldered has broken yet again. This time there is no hope of reusing it. Rather than trying to find a connector that fits, I have soldered an old female molex connector to the motherboard. I am going to use epoxy or very good hot glue to glue the wires to the motherboard. That will help keep the strain off the solder joints.

I will also need to cut the existing end off of the power cord and attatch a male molex connector to it. I can't say for sure how much longer the laptop is going to keep going but seeing as how I have no money to buy a new one I will keep it going as long as I can.

Oh and for those of you wondering how I posted this. My wife let me barrow her laptop for the night. Thanks hun.

If I see one more blog with the same crap on it I don't know what I am going to do. The current trend in blogs seems to be to take what ever you can from news sites (digg.com, slashdot.com, etc..) and repost them on your blog.

What a horrible use for the internet. There are some things that are ok to repost, like diy projects because a lot of times one person posts it and then some one else does it. They learn a better way to do it and should repost it for others to benefit from.

I know digg and the like is just reposting news and thats ok because they are puting it into one spot so I don't have to go look at every news page every day.

Now if you blogers like posting news so much, then go help out digg.com or some place like that. Your blog is suposed to be about you or your product and not main stream news.

Linux MCE

I had high expectations for the Linux MCE project but at this point it needs a lot of work.

Wow I really should not try and write a news post when mad tv is on.

Ok the linux mce takes a while to install and falls very short of what I (and I'm going to guess most people) want.

I want some thing I can install that will auto scan my windows/linux file shares for all media. If it needs a password (which it would) then it should pop up a window and ask for the user name and password to use. After you do that once it should remember the user names and passwords for the file shares.

Dirty Computers

I just wanted to say that so far I have worked on two computers that were in homes where people smoke. Let me tell you these end up being the filthiest computers I have ever seen. The two computers both died of the same problem, a dead motherboard.

It becomes obvious once you get the computer open why the motherboard would die. Crusted over with tar and nicotine. What I find interesting is how the human body can deal with these kinds of things. Keep in mind the smoke that smokers inhale is filtered but that stuff is still present.

There has been alot of things in the news recently about how this movie is not doing well at the box office. As matrixbandit pointed out, it has been a long time since a movie like this has come out.

I for one really enjoyed this film and wish they would make some more. The reason for this is that while there was story behind it. The story was not overly complicated. The suspense I find missing from alot of new films was there, the action was there, the crazy amounts of blood was there.

Just a great time. Oh and lets not forget all the big name stars in the movie. I wont name names as I don't want to spoil any thing for any one.

Well here we go. I have found a new news system that I think is going to work. This will make it a lot quicker for me update things. No more having to download the current news.php file, edit it, and re-upload it.

I am not sure if url's auto link but lets try it.

http://www.google.com

No apparently they dont.
