Daredevil
BackBack from my little vacation and ready to write about some movies. Okay here we go...
Over the weekend my wife was so kind as to take me to see Daredevil. I had wanted to see it mostly because I am a comic book fan and most of the books I read were marvel. Marvel for those of you who don't know is owned by the same people who own Revlon. DC comics is owned by Time-Warner. You do the math and figure out who has it easier when it comes to making movies.
Though I was a little hesitant mostly because I just wasn't sure that I liked Ben Afleck as Matt Murdock/Daredevil. First of all Ben Afleck is built a lot like me and Daredevil was always in AMAZING shape. Hence the reason he could do what he does. Also, I'm not a big fan of Alias. Sue me.
But when the movie got started, Jer's willing suspention of disbelief took over. I was locked into what turned out to be a great movie. The fight scenes were great, Ben had lost some serious weight and got into damned good shape for the movie, and the chick from Alias played Elektra about as well as anyone could hope. I was never a fan of Elektra in the comics so it's no suprise that I wasn't a fan of her in the movie.
One big not though Collin Ferrel was HILARIOUS as Bullseye. Just way too funny for his own good. I love a cocky irishman, being mostly irish myself. I have high hopes for Collin as an actor.
I would go into further detail about the movie but the following is really all I feel comfurtable telling you. Matt Murdock's father was an amazing boxer. A man once said he faught like the devil. The nickname stuck even after he quit and became a washed up has been. After an accident involving radioactive goo (stop laughing) Matt lost his vision but the rest of his senses were superhuman. Giving him an almost radar like sense.
His father returned to boxing and when he refused to throw a fight for a mob boss, was killed. It was then that Matt Murdock decided that he would always stick up for the little guy. Fight for justice in a world of crime. Fast forward a few years...and we get DareDevil.
Five Stars, peanuts, thumbs up, etc...
